DAM (or Deutsche Anglergeräte Manufaktur) has a certain reputation. While other brands claim to be legendary, very few can tout being one of the oldest fishing tackle brands on Earth with origins beginning in 1875 – if that’s not legendary, well we’re not sure what is. Longevity is only half of the battle though; you don’t stay in business as long as DAM without having achieved some serious fishing heights.
Throughout its long and illustrious history, DAM has collected many impressive accolades. The brand is even credited with being one of the first European brands to offer fishing rods made entirely of carbon in the 1970s.
Additionally, DAM was the first-ever German branded fishing line with patents and trademarks under the DAMYL name. The company went on to launch the world-famous Quick reel brand, and quickly followed with the creation of the EFFZETT spinners and spoons which saw unit sales numbers in the millions very quickly.
