ABU GARCIA is a fishing accessories manufacturer based in Sweden. In 1921, Carl August Borgström founded AB Urfabriken in Svängsta, Sweden. The company manufactured pocket watches, telephone clocks and taximeters. Unfortunately, World War II led to a sharp decline in demand for taximeters. Undaunted, ABU directed its skills towards developing precision fishing reels used by anglers around the world. For this reason, Abu Garcia was later given the honor of being named "Royal Swedish War Supplier," an award given to a select group of manufacturers for consistently exceeding their highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
